My schedule is currently stacked up, but I have been working on the project through the course of not posting or reporting anything.

 

In any case, I’ve been tampering with the menu system. Loving the artwork and sprite mixed into it. Still need a bit of adjusting but amused on how it’s turning out.

Part 2’s Plan and core system

Demo’s part 2 may have a few specific plans I will be implementing. Reasons for it’s addition is mainly to make it a core system to prevent errors every patch.

One of the main system I’m adding is file cross over. It’s still not perfect, but my plan is to make specific events happen depending on the choices you’ve made in prior files.

For example.. in part 2, you’ll be surprised and may be unable to continue towards the last battle of the demo/full game. However, if you trigger certain things both in path A and path B.. it will open both switches into the final area. Keep note, while the final area is open.. path A and B will still progress afterwards, leading you to 2 different endings. If you don’t understand, it’s alright.. it will make more sense once it’s finally patched.

As I’ve mentioned before, the shipping/relationship system is still being redone. However, to extend the interesting potential.. children will be added into the mix. It’s early to demonstrate now, but I’m excited to see the results.

So I’ve been well aware of the ‘light’ and ‘dark’ issues during the day/night cycle of the game, that makes it difficult to see or just general annoyance. I just want to let you guys know that I’ve been trying to find a better solution. See.. if I were to remove the day/night system, it will lose some of the ‘atmosphere’ in some maps. Another issue is that if I were to add more light sources in each map, it may cause lag to most players. Unless I can find an anti lag solution or perhaps tamper with the darker tones, I hear you loud and clear ^^

I’ve also seen people making let’s play’s of the demo, which is very flattering! I highly encourage it when you can, cause it does help me analyze different kinds of play styles both in solution/concerns and different approaches to the game I’ve never considered.

 

 

 

Public Demo going live

Expect a download section on the site very soon. You’ll know once it’s live! I hope you guys enjoy! I want to thank the beta testers for helping me spot the main issues and resolve it’s adjustments.

I just want remind everyone that this is a fun continuing project, and make no money whatso ever for this, so bear with me if my progression is slow or on the clumsy side! (late night coding/spriting hnnnnnnnng) xD

Feel free to stream or upload the gameplay if you wish. It may help me if the game encounters copyright issues. =)

 

There may be a demo version swap/patch if more issues ensues or to continue an ‘Arch’ story.

So according to a few beta testers, the ‘web browser’ is functioning with the exception of lag, up to the point where it starts becoming unplayable a few maps in. It’s good to know that I’ve got it properly working running on google drive. Though if anyone knows a good file sharing site with strong bandwidth capabilities, please let me know! Whether it’s free or a paid kind of deal, it would be nice to actually let people try out the game as some are unable to download a large file size.

 

Tampering with RPG’s multi-plat

I’ve been discovering new ways of the project’s platform. More interestingly, a ‘web browser’ version of it. Now granted by doing so will cause a ton of lag since the program would be running ‘non-locally’ as any game/program would be more faster downloaded on a computer/device. Though with this method, it allows me to update the game in a ‘live’ state in doing so.

I’m currently still working on the downloaded version for beta-testers/demo release, but also playing with the possibility of people trying to play the game who don’t have sort of access.

So I repeat, if I do end up getting it up and running, the locally downloaded version will always be much faster compared to the web browser version of it, so performance is expected to be poor in comparison.

goodness, it’s been awhile!

Fear not fellow viewers, Hirari X Drifter and this project is not dead! Infact, I’ve been aggressively working on the project without updating the site! If I haven’t mentioned this on other social media outlets, I’m redoing the entire game with a new engine, which is surprisingly tedious yet not at the same time. I’ve been somewhat and had been working on this project entirely on my own, and those who volunteer really do help out! Whether it’s submissions or beta testers.

but now, let’s get down to the details of what’s been going down with the project:

Hybrid Voluntary Format

Now before you ask, I’ll answer a few concerns regarding some sudden changes:

Have you tried coding/using a java plugin to remedy the recreation?

Yes, sadly it conflicts a lot with the coding and java, so the best option is to go with this format of battlers

I submitted my character awhile ago. Does that mean I have to redo the sprites?

No, I appreciate your voluntary work and will work around it. I’ll manually fix it myself. Though feel free to update or reconfigure your submission, just be sure to give me simplified details:

-character name

-creator/to credit

-simple description such as: uses lance, has lightning attacks

-if it’s your character, state so. If it’s an extra/diff O.C. (original Character), let me know so it will be categorized properly

-submit it to either on PM, email, fanpage. remember to attach/file or the quality might get ruined

What role/roles will my character(s) play in the rpg?

As it stands, your character could potentially be an NPC, tournament challenger, or various positions. All submissions however, will all be placed in the hall of fame.

What about voluntary voice actors?

I definitely could use voice actors, however I do hope those who want to enroll or participate in the position.. please remain on standby. Due to a few complicated situation, it’s constantly being held back.

When will the demo be released?

Honestly I’m trying to get it out ASAP. Until then, stay tuned to HxD facebook page or this site.

Why the sudden engine change?

If I didn’t mention it before, it enables me to create for PC/MAC/Android/ipad/etc platforms. As of now, PC is functioning properly as all source materials and people’s submissions are protected.
